Audio and Bio Signal Processing Lab

Audio & Bio Signal Processing Lab
This laboratory was carved out of erstwhile Control Laboratory in the year 2002. It started investigation into two new area of research in the Department. Biometric Authentication using speech or voice signature was one of them and the lab. received generous funding from various sponsors like ISRO, VEICET, DST etc. This work expanded to include broad range of audio signal analysis. The second new area of investigation was Bio Signal Processing where PCG, PPG, EEG, MEG were investigated. The work on PCG (heart sound analysis) was a winner of DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Program 2009. The work is covered widely by national and international media. Recently (March 27, 2011), Economic Times reported it among one of the nine innovations that can bring a great change. The work on PPG is supported by IPCR. The work on EEG, MEG are supported by collaborator at Goldsmith, University of London. In last five years, the lab. has published 18 papers in peer reviewed international journals. It has also filed two patents and more are in the pipeline.

This lab. houses and supports development of two virtual laboratories under MHRD sponsored National Mission Project.
